GEE Navigation Defined

Maximum range of GEE signal was 180 miles. When the signals were sent from England, inaccurate targeting occurred.  But as the Allies moved into Western Europe they could set up more transmitters closer to their targets.

Robert Dippy Inventor of the  GEE lattice radio navigation system. When the US realized the GEE system’s superiority the country  hired Dippy to create a longer range radio navigation system to navigate the dark expanses of the Pacific. That system would become known as  Loran-A .
